建築ツアー／山田 守 [建築]
今回の建築ツアーは、石上純也であったのだが、
本厚木まで来ているから、
分離派の巨匠・山田 守の東海大学を見に行こうということを、
五十嵐太郎さんが提案した。
小田急線で本厚木から４つ目の東海大学前まで行く。
後はタクシー４台にに分乗して東海大学北門。
山田 守（やまだまもる、1894年 - 1966年）
東京帝国大学建築学科卒業、逓信省に入り、電信局などの設計を行う。
東京中央電信局のパラボラ型アーチの並ぶ個性的なデザインが注目された（現存しない）。
大正9年、山田守をはじめ、同級生の、堀口捨巳、石本喜久治、森田慶一、滝沢真弓、矢田茂のメンバーで分離派建築会を結成した。その結成の宣言は、「我々は起つ、過去建築圏より分離し、総ての建築をして真に意義あらしむる新建築圏を創造せんがために、我々は起つ、過去建築圏の中に眠っている総てのものを救わんがために、我々は起つ我々のこの理想の実現のために我々の総てのものを愉悦の中に献げ、倒れるまで、死まで期して、我々一同、右を世界に向かって宣言する。」

山田守は、四国高松の病院も、
五十嵐太郎さんに教えられて見に行っている。
ＮＴＴ西日本高松診療所（旧高松逓信病院）（1962年）
建築の角を面取りしたようなカーブが印象的。
それと敷地全体が流れるように設計されていた。
それと京都駅前の京都タワービル（1964年）は、３回見に行っている。
さらに先日の五十嵐太郎さんのツアーで、日本武道館（1964年）も見ている。
というわけで、東海大学へ行く。
これが、広くて、そしてたくさんの建築がある。
山田守るの最晩年の作品で、山田は何よりこのプロジェクトを重視していた。
自由にデザインできる代わりに無報酬だった。

なにしろ、全棟現存しているので、
歩いて、歩いて見て回った。
五十嵐さんはタフ、私は老齢に身でたいへん。
それでも遅れず、全部見る。
参加した若い学生たちが「かっこいいね」と賛嘆の声を上げる。
本当に、今見ても斬新なデザインである。
すばらしい〈超1流〉〈超1流〉〈超1流〉建築が、
いくつもある。
面取りしたような角を丸くしたスタイルや、
スパイラルなど、
トレードマークが明確で個性が明確なフォルムをもっている。
〈非-合法性〉があって、しかも《ハイアート建築》である。
周辺部のアパートの様な、付随的なビルも良い。
トレードマークのスロープの階段部分が美しい。
スタイリッシュなトレードマーク性の重要性を、
改めて感じる。
最晩年に、これだけの建築群を残した山田守の偉大さに、
深い感銘を覚える。
すごい巨匠建築家ですね！
２０世紀日本美術史を書きたいのだが、
その中に建築を入れるという、当たり前のことをしたい。
そうすると大正美術の中に、
まずこの山田守の偉大な分離派建築が登場する。
そうすると、日本のモダニズム美術のイメージが根底的に変わる。
しかもそれは線香花火のような、はかない幻ではなくて、
最晩年まで展開されて巨大なビル群にまで発展する骨太の造型性なのである。
美術史の書き換えが急務であると言える。
